I stopped in RAYGUN in Des Moines to do a Matterport model– and to immerse myself in a uniquely Pan-Midwesternist breed of snark that the homegrown t-shirt company has championed over the past decade-and-a-half-ish since its founding. The store occupies a large portion of a boxy, modern building at the southeast corner of Grand and 5th in Des Moines’ East VIllage neighborhood, just a few blocks from the Iowa State Capitol. The space is also home to the Mars Coffee Bar, which shares the space-age theme of the t-shirt company.
