New Client Who Dis

I’m looking forward to working with Ann-Arbor-based McNeely Building Group over the next few months. I will be working on some business and technical strategy as well as, of course, the occasional jaunt out into the field (as pictured below). Principal Kevin McNeely was one of the first people I ever really met in Detroit in the winter of 2015. I stumbled upon a meeting of the Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice working on the Detroit Climate Action Plan. We worked with the rockstar team of Leila Mekias (City of Detroit Department of Health), Eric Douglas (Detroit Climate Action Collaborative), and Kimberly Hill Knott (Erb Institute, Future Insight Consulting).

Just an old sweet fiber-reinforced gypsum panel keeps Georgia-Pacific on my mind.

McNeely Building Group works all around the Midwest to provide energy consulting services including energy audits, LEED consulting, HERS ratings, EnergyStar verification, and a variety of other inspection services including duct and air leakage testing, insulation inspection, technical building envelope design, Manual J and D calculations for HVAC, and more.

In the nearest of future, we will be working mostly in the multifamily residential space amid an ongoing boom that seems to be holding in spite of the apocalypse. There is, however, plenty of room to grow the space for single-family energy audits and retrofit work. There’s also going to be an increasing need for high-performance design of new construction. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to help bring energy efficiency to a broader base of clients both locally to southeast Michigan and to broader geographies as we explore new strategic and technical horizons.
