Two Punks, Two Downfalls, Two Wildly Different Jail Terms

Let me get this straight. Paul Manafort got sentenced to less than eight years in prison for eight counts of conspiracy and whatever other felonious stuff. Kwame Kilpatrick likely will spend the rest of his life in jail. Wall Street was wholly complicit in all of his schemes, but no one from Wall Street went to jail for their misdeeds, which crippled the US economy (and Detroit’s). Can anyone really argue that there are not egregious, racial sentencing disparities? Kwame’s a punk, no doubt. But 20 years more of a punk than Manafort, or the rest of that band of miscreants that got the president elected? Wall Street investment bankers helped ruin Detroit. Where is their jail sentence?

Oh, right, they’re white.
